Health Camps
Health camps delivered at no financial costs to schools and communities
Dr Sumita Singh and LBCHF have been working with orphanages since 2006 when Dr Singh conducted research into the conditions of life in orphanages and discovered that there was no financial support for medical issues. Since then LBCHF has conducted many health camps and paid for medication and operations for thousands of children across Kathmandu. Over the past year, especially following the earthquakes, two organizations have worked closely with LBCHF
Anna Debard, medic and wife of Samuel Debard (aka Uncle Sam) was astounded by the lack of medical care which still exists within schools, orphanages and the wider community. While accompanying her husband and Bisan Lama (Tresurer of LBCHF) on dental programs, Anna discovered that she could be of assistance as a volunteer medic offering on –the-spot treatment for various illnesses or injuries. The Debard children: Sasha, Lara and Pascal also volunteer and work closely with both Mother and Father providing assistance. Accompanying Anna as translator is Manamaya a young woman who is sponsored by Napali Youth Organisation (NYO). The team has been able to offer instant treatment and advice for head lice, worms, eye and skin infections and many more.
